Great area for our now rare native meadow breeding species. Also rare waders, birds of prey and songbirds, you can really find everything here.
The Leipheimer Moos is a beautiful moorland with wide areas for kaňa močiarna as well as the rare chrapkáč poľný, trasochvost žltý, svrčiak zelenkavý and migratory ľabtuška lúčna. In the reed areas north of the border ditch slávik modrák likes to sing, in the cattle pastures pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý and along the boardwalk circuit (the boardwalk itself is unfortunately closed) krutohlav hnedý, slávik obyčajný, močiarnica mekotavá, cibík chochlatý, penica obyčajná, kukučka obyčajná, bažant obyčajný and tesár čierny can be heard or seen.
Also worth a visit in autumn/winter when there are kaňa sivá, strakoš veľký, myšiarka močiarna, hus bieločelá and žeriav popolavý.
The Leipheimer Moos is located in north of the town of Günzburg. The area is perfect to explore by bike and on foot. You can park your car south of the area at the Herdweg parking area in Leipheim. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking. The Herdweg area provides convenient access to the moor and its hiking trails.
