Description
The Kemnader See is located on the southern outskirts of the city of Bochum and borders on Witten and Hattingen. The shore of the reservoir is developed with paved paths and a cycle path. The lake is traversed by the river Ruhr, in the estuary area of the river, gravel islands are formed, where mainly gulls (up to 6 species!) can be observed in winter. The lake is also a roosting place for bernikľa veľká and hus divá in winter. In winter: regular hlaholka severská, potápač malý, potápač veľký, chochlačka sivá, chochlačka vrkočatá, kačica chrapka, kačica chripľavka and kačica divá. turpan tmavý, potáplica stredná, potáplica malá are occasional winter visitors, and potáplica veľká have also been observed. rybárik riečny can be seen regularly all year round, brehuľa hnedá in summer. rybár riečny and čorík čierny are migrants, as is kršiak rybár. The black swans, which have been breeding here regularly for many years, are famous.

Accessible by car via the A43 motorway, exit Witten-Herbede. Parking spaces at the "Freiteitbad Heveney". Click on the P in the map for directions. Bus stops "Freizeitbad Heveney" and in the south "Herbede Mitte" and "Wittener Straße".
