Description
The Hainberg is a 213-hectare nature reserve on the southwestern edge of the city of Nuremberg. It is an open area, but also partly covered with forest. Bird watching here is most worthwhile in summer, when strakoš obyčajný, vlha obyčajná, ďateľ prostredný, tesár čierny, žltochvost hôrny and krutohlav hnedý can be seen. At the small pond and the river you can watch rybárik riečny as well as geese, ducks and kormorán veľký in the forest. And of course other typical forest birds. Along the river vodnár potočný has been observed.

Access
The Hainberg is located on the western outskirts of Nuremberg. The area can only be explored on foot or by bike. For a parking place right next to the entrance of the area click on the P in the map for directions.
Public transport: From the Nuremberg train station (Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof), take the S-Bahn S4 towards Ansbach and get off at Unterasbach (1). From there, it’s about a 10–12 minute walk. Alternatively, several buses from Nuremberg stop near the Hainberg, within walking distance.
