Description
The Cospudener See is an artificially constructed lake south of Leipzig. The southeastern corner of the Cospudener lake and the adjacent Neue Hardt forest hold an interesting mixture of birds living in the water, in reed beds, wetland, on grassland and in forests. These include bird species such as rybár riečny , kačica hvizdárka , kačica chripľavka , kačička obojková (early spring 2024), potápka chochlatá , hus divá , kulík riečný , kalužiačik malý , kúdeľníčka lužná , ľabtuška hôrna , trsteniarik veľký , glezg obyčajný , škovránik stromový , krutohlav hnedý , pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý , penica jarabá and many more.
During winter, you may also find rare guests from the far north such as potáplica malá , potáplica stredná and potáplica veľká.

Access
The Cospudener See is located on the southern outskirts of Leipzig, near the town of Markkleeberg. This route starts at the marina at the southwestern end of Markkleeberg. You can get there by foot, bike, car and bus. Click on a P in the map for directions to a parking. The circular walk is about 7 km.
