Description
The Baggersee Grötzingen is a former gravel pit that is now part nature reserve, part recreational (fishing, bathing zone). In winter there are usually good numbers of chochlačka vrkočatá, kačica chripľavka, kačica chrapka, potápka chochlatá, volavka popolavá and kormorán veľký. They are sometimes joined by smaller numbers or individual chochlačka sivá, hlaholka severská, kačica lyžičiarka or kačička mandarínska.
Most years, some more uncommon or rare species appear at some point during the winter. In recent years, chochlačka morská, potápka červenokrká, turpan čierny and turpan tmavý have all been seen here. The woods surrounding the lake are a good place to look out for less common woodland species, such as žlna sivá, ďateľ malý and glezg obyčajný.
