Description
Pointe de la Coubre becomes very interesting during spring and autumn migration, just before or after birds cross the Gironde. Migrating species include kršiak rybár, kaňa močiarna, čegrava veľkozobá, drozd kolohrivec, muchárik čiernohlavý.
Breeding species include slávik modrák, pipíška chochlatá, ľabtuška poľná, cistovník ryšavý, stehlík konôpka, kolibiarik horský. On the ocean side of the beach breeds kulík morský which nests are fenced and protected every year.
Wintering species include turpan čierny, pomorník veľký and all sorts of waders and ducks (pobrežník hrdzavý, kulík piesočný, hvizdák veľký, brehár čiernochvostý, kulík bledý).

Access
How to get there: By bike - bike trails from Rochefort (60km) and Royan (20km). Follow "Phare de la Coubre". By car - Follow "Phare de la Coubre" to get to the car park. Free car park but closed at night.
How to visit: on foot only, free access. From the car park, go south and follow the dunes. You can go to the very end of the sandpit that faces La Palmyre across the strait (5km one way, 10km round trip by foot).
