Nature reserve in the estuary of the river Seudre, which allows a nice walk through structurally rich marshlands.
The Seudre estuary is home to a large portion of the population of the nanmetum subspecies of the slávik modrák, which is endemic to the French Atlantic coast. With a bit of luck it can be observed here (other good spots are the Pointe de la Coubre, Marais de Brouage and RNMO). Some breeding birds of the Moulin des Loges reserve are trasochvost žltý, cetia západná, lastovička obyčajná, šišila bocianovítá and more.
Nearby lyžičiar biely and different heron species, such as chavkoš nočný are breeding, as well as rybár riečny. Besides from that you can observe kačica chrapačka during spring migration, ibisovec hnedý, kaňa močiarna, hadiar krátkoprstý, bojovník bahenný, brehár čiernochvostý (keep your eyes open for the islandica subspecies), močiarnica mekotavá and many more species (see the list below). The open landscape also allows good observations of migrating passerines, like pŕhľaviar červenkastý, muchárik čiernohlavý or skaliarik sivý. On the nearby fields you can observe kuropta červená, kulík zlatý (only during winter), cibík chochlatý and strnádka lúčna. Note that in end of August the hunt for waders and ducks begins, which makes good observations harder.
Moulin des Loges is located 3 km southeast of the town of Marennes. The reserve has a parking. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
