Description
During migration and winter the water bodies can host lots of ducks if they have not been flushed by fishermen or hunters, among which several dozens of chochlačka sivá and chochlačka vrkočatá and several hundreds of lyska čierna . A rarity such as the turpan tmavý or chochlačka morská is always possible in winter. Still in winter but above all during October-November and March the wet grassland is a very good spot for močiarnica mekotavá and močiarnička tichá.
In summer typical breeders include rybár riečny and potápka chochlatá on the lake, strakoš obyčajný in the bushes or ľabtuška lúčna in the grassland.
In late summer and early autumn when water level drops the south-western water body can be very good for waders particularly kalužiak močiarny or for a bocian čierny stopover. In spring when water level is higher, čorík čierny , čorík bahenný or čajka malá are regularly seen foraging over water.
