Pond with a reedbed surrounded by interesting habitats such as bushland, agricultural area and an old ochard.
The Slatina area is an important breeding site for many birds connected to reedbeds such as bučiačik močiarny (the only location of this species in Prague), svrčiak slávikovitý, chriašteľ vodný, trsteniarik veľký, trsteniarik bahenný, sliepočka vodná or strnádka trstinová. Also the kaňa močiarna is breeding here. On the pond itself breeds many pairs of potápka chochlatá, lyska čierna, kačica divá and a few pairs of chochlačka sivá and chochlačka vrkočatá. In the linked rural areas breed strakoš obyčajný, svrčiak zelenkavý, slávik obyčajný and many others. Nearby there is a breeding site of brehuľa hnedá.
During the spring migration you can see birds such as slávik modrák, pŕhľaviar červenkastý, pŕhľaviar čiernohlavý, muchárik čiernohlavý, kačica chrapačka and many other species of waterfowl, močiarnica mekotavá, cibík chochlatý and many, many more species.
Many birds come to spend a night in the reedbed, especially in the end of summer. It is the best place in the area where to watch škorec obyčajný murmuration. Also lastovička obyčajná and trasochvost žltý come here to spend a night.
During the weekend the location can be overcrowded by people such as fishermen or bikers so I recommend you to visit the location during weekdays. Please do not disturb birds in their breeding habitats and use just visible pathways!
Easily accesible by car. There is a small parking lot in the north of the pond. You can also arrive by public transport using a bus to station Dolnoměcholupská and then 30 minutes walking using the biking trail. It is possible to make a circular route, but only the eastern side of the pond has a paved road.
