Description
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding chochlačka sivá and potápka chochlatá, a heron colony with volavka popolavá and beluša veľká and summer migrants including bučiačik močiarny and svrčiak slávikovitý. In spring the site attracts waders such as šišila bocianovítá as well as passage birds such as čajka malá and čorík čierny. The site also has some woodland, which contains tesár čierny, glezg obyčajný, žlna sivá, and there is a chance of orliak morský.

Access
You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
