This site is centred on the junction of Naas road and Apollo road south of Canberra, an area of privately owned land that includes remnant patches of woodland.
Just south of the junction is a wooded hill with many rocks and fallen logs, which provides foraging habitat for birds including Brown Treecreeper, Hooded Robin and Diamond Firetail throughout the year. Further along Apollo Road there are a few scrubby paddocks that regularly attract mixed flocks of small birds including robins.
From Canberra, this site can be accessed by following Parkes Way west from the city centre before turning south onto the Tuggeranong Parkway at the Glenloch interchange. Continue along the parkway onto Drakeford Drive and then straight along Tharwa Drive for 8 km. In Tharwa, turn left immediately after crossing the bridge onto Naas Road, and continue for 10.7 km before arriving at the junction. Park at a layby 10 metres along Apollo Road or by the gate opposite the intersection on Naas Road.
