Ashfield Flats comprise a variety of habitats which hold a good selection of Perth's water associated birdlife as well a a good number of bushbird species. Over 100 species are recorded for the site.

Ashfield Flats is the largest remaining river-flat in the Perth metropolitan area, on the flood plain of the Swan River. This Bush Forever Site and listed wetland of importance is home to the Subtropical and Temperate Coastal Saltmarsh Threatened Ecological Community (TEC). The TEC is protected under State legislation (Biodiversity and Conservation Act 2016) as well as Federal legislation (Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999).

From Guildford Road at Ashfield turn south on to Colstoun Road, left at Haig St, right at Fisher St, on to Reid St to turn right at Iveson Pl. Press P on the map to access Google mapping.

The suggested walk is just that; a sugestion. There are a number of informal path alternatives at this site. Alternative parking is also available at Sandy Beach Reserve - see map. Note that the Flats can become muddy after rains or very high tides but formal dual use paths will be clear.
