A wetland reserve created in 1999 on the site of a former sewage works with ponds, ditches, a marsh and several areas of open water.
Situated just four miles from the centre of Leeds, Rodley Nature Reserve is a wetland close to the River Aire. On the site of a former sewage works a nature reserve was developed. The land is situated in the Aire valley, an important flyway for migrating birds. Ponds, ditches, a marsh and several areas of open water were established. Birds that can be seen at any time of year include Малая поганка, Хохлатая чернеть, Серая утка, Широконоска, Обыкновенный зимородок, Оляпка, Кулик-сорока and Чибис. Winter visitors include Бекас, Водяной пастушок, Красноголовый нырок, Свиязь, Чирок-свистунок and Большой крохаль. Smaller species seen in the summer or all year round include Коноплянка, Тростниковая овсянка, Обыкновенная зеленушка, Снегирь, Теньковка, Пеночка-весничка, Садовая славка, Горная трясогузка, Славка-черноголовка, Серая славка, Речная крачка and Певчий дрозд.
