Description
NWT Ranworth Broad is accessible to all and boasts a great visitor centre (which is open in the spring and summer) with wide views over Ranworth Broad. The broad (lake) itself offers chances to see Чомга, Обыкновенный зимородок and Болотный лунь throughout the year, while the boardwalk trail supports Черноголовая гаичка, Снегирь and Водяной пастушок may also be heard.
In winter, the broad will be busy with feeding wildfowl including Свиязь, Чирок-свистунок, Широконоска, Шилохвость and a few Хохлатая чернеть. In periods of harsh weather, Большая выпь, Морская чернеть and other scarcer species may be seen. The alder trees on the trail from the car park may hold good numbers of Чиж and Горная чечетка.
In summer, there is a chance of seeing a flyover Скопа, but more likely, there will be plenty of Речная крачка feeding over the broad. Large gatherings of Деревенская ласточка, Воронок and Береговушка may also be seen. Listen out for the songs of Теньковка, Камышевка-барсучок, Тростниковая камышевка and even a Обыкновенная кукушка along the boardwalk trail.
