Description

Messingham Sand Quarries has a tick list of 180 bird species. Two hides available. Reedbeds provide nest sites for Тростниковая камышевка, Камышевка-барсучок, Соловьиная широкохвостка and Тростниковая овсянка. Большая выпь is a regular visitor. Winter wildfowl such as Свиязь, Широконоска, Красноголовый нырок, Чирок-свистунок and Серая утка. In 2001 Американская зелёная кваква showed up here.

Access

Just south of Scunthorpe and the M180 motorway. Click on the P in the map to get directions. Exit the reserve with care as its a fast straight road. The circular walking route indicated on the map is about 3 km long.
