Hatch Pond is a small lake located in the centre of Poole, Dorset, which is known for having a large variety of habitats in a small urban area.
Hatch Pond might just be thought of as a small lake which is mainly used by fishermen and dog walkers, but really it is one of the hidden gems of the Poole basin. In the reedbed areas around the lake you can occasionally spot a Водяной пастушок or even a wintering Большая выпь from the viewing areas. Waders can occasionally be seen in passage, although there is quite a large amount of Бекас. The wildfowl of the lake includes species such as Хохлатая чернеть and Серая утка, which are often seen around the lake.
Hatch Pond can be accessed from the A349 Waterloo Road, between the roundabouts at Fleet's Corner, Poole and Darby's Corner, Broadstone. You can park down at Stinsford Road, and park just beyond the Honeywell offices. Then cross the road to get a view of the lake. Alternatively you can also go to the viewpoint by turning right and walking NE, and then turning left to the two pine trees on the left, which is 30 minutes from the parking space.
