Description

The Kennet and Avon canal is a popular leisure resource, busy with narrowboats in summer. At other times the reedbeds, open water and wooded areas attract herons, egrets, wildfowl, Обыкновенный зимородок, woodpeckers, Камышевка-барсучок, Тростниковая овсянка and Большой баклан.

Access

By boat, hire from numerous boatyards along the canal. To pass through the locks takes 5/6 hours. By car, from A361 Trowbridge-Devizes road, take B3101 towards Rowde then right after half a mile. Regular buses from Devizes. Nearest train station, Melksham, 6 miles away. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular walking route shown on the map is about 2,5 km.
