Description
From August to October, numerous thermal gliding birds can be observed passing through the skies around Gurten. The best time is late August and early September. Then large numbers of Обыкновенный осоед are possible. With a bit of luck, Чёрный аист will also pass by. Other regular species are: Канюк, Перепелятник, Тетеревятник, Пустельга обыкновенная, Чеглок, Красный коршун, Чёрный коршун, Скопа, Луговой лунь, Болотный лунь and Белый аист. In later autumn large flocks of Вяхирь pass by. From time to time Белобрюхий стриж can be observed on food flights.

Access
The Gurten hill is located directly south of Bern city center. The best way is to take the Gurtenbahn funicular that runs from the city to the Gurten. From there it is only a 10 minutes walk to the viewing and observation point.
