Description

Stockviken is one of the best birding areas on Gotland. It has two different areas: an inland lake ("inre") with a watchtower and a bay ("ytre"). You can see ducks, geese, Орлан-белохвост, Каменка, terns, reedbirds and waders. Many rare species have been seen here over the years. The area's nesting birds include waders such as Травник, Кулик-сорока, Турухтан, Большой кроншнеп, Большой веретенник, Шилоклювка and Чернозобик, but also other species such as Малая крачка, Чеграва and Полярная крачка. Especially in spring – from early April to mid-May – but also during autumn – mainly in October – thousands of Белощекая казарка can be seen in the area.
