Description

The entire lake of Vendelsjön holds a rich bird life but here in the southern end there is a birdtower from which one can easily discover the many species that reside here. From the reeds you can hear birds like Большая выпь and Дроздовидная камышевка. A great place to see Swedish rarities like Малая чайка, Чёрная крачка, Обыкновенный осоед and Чирок-трескунок. The café, Ängslyckans Café, is only open on sundays.

Access

Vendelsjön is a ca. 35 km car trip north from Uppsala. Possibly best reached by driving on the Gävlevägen (the old E4) and turning right at Läby, then follow the road that goes under the current E4 and towards Romstarbo, at the southern most tip of the lake there is a parking lot on the left side of the road if you come from the Uppsala direction. From there it is only a short walk to the birdtower.
