Skillingaryds Dämme was built as a water treatment plant. Measures taken in recent years have resulted in a new wetland and wet meadows. The new environment with shallow ponds and bushes attracts birds like Водяной пастушок, Камышница, Белая трясогузка, Малый зуёк, Береговушка, Обыкновенный зимородок, Перевозчик and Гоголь.
