Sandarviken is a shallow bay north of Faludden. The surroundings consist of large costal meadows, with bushy areas and more forested areas, and a lagoon.

Description

At Sandarviken 223 bird species have been recorded. 35 species of wading birds have been recorded.

Sandarviken holds thousands of wintering Морская чернеть but Турпан, Синьга, Обыкновенная гага and diving ducks also winter in smaller numbers. Other waterfowl like Свиязь, Широконоска Чирок-свистунок, Пеганка and Серая утка also winter in the area. Sandarviken holds wintering Чомга, Серощекая поганка, and Красношейная поганка.Белощекая казарка also winter as do a few wading birds in winter. Гаршнеп is sometimes found. Wintering birds of prey are often found in the area. Some of the common ones are Полевой лунь, Канюк, Орлан-белохвост, and Беркут.

During migration period the bay often holds large amounts of waders. Most numerous is the Чернозобик which sometimes number in the thousands. Большой веретенник, Бекас, Кулик-сорока, Большой кроншнеп, Травник, Чернозобик, Шилоклювка, and Галстучник all breed somewhat regularly. Other wading birds often found are:Камнешарка, Тулес, Малый веретенник, Песчанка, Белохвостый песочник, and Кулик-воробей. Rarer wading birds like Грязовик, Круглоносый плавунчик, Гаршнеп and Дупель are sometimes found. Many vagrant wading birds have also been found.

In the lagoon Серая утка, Широконоска, Чирок-трескунок and many other dabbling ducks often Feed. Краснозобая гагара and Чернозобая гагара often rest at Sandarviken year round. Large amounts of geese use the coastal meadows as resting and feeding ground during their migration. Белощекая казарка and Серый гусь can sometimes be found in the thousands. Короткоклювый гуменник and Краснозобая казарка has been seen.
