A wetland nature reserve with a good selection of breeding and staging birds.
Lake Brånsjön is a very shallow lake surrounded by grazed, wet meadows which are flooded during spring. The best time to visit is late April or early May, when up to 1000+ Гуменник, 1000+ Чирок-свистунок and several hundreds of other ducks and waders stage in the area. Brånsjön is one of the very best breeding sites for wetland birds in north Sweden, with large populations of e g Чибис, and several pairs of Турухтан, Серый журавль and Широконоска. Гаршнеп breeds and Малая чайка are daily visitors. In the surroundings Кедровка and Желна is common, as well as Обыкновенная чечевица.
Two birding towers are situated on the eastern part of the wetland area, and can be easily accessed through signed paths from the road between the village Vännäsby and Brån. Note that access is restricted in the nature reserve except on marked paths between April 15th and August 15th.
