La Higuerilla is a great spot to look for birds of prey. In 2024 I found 3 different Чёрный гриф nests in the oaks on the other side of the river, although some diligent scanning is required to find them. Also easily seen in spring and summer are Чёрный коршун, Змееяд and Орёл-карлик.
Be sure to check the riverbanks for fishing Чёрный аист. On- and around the river Серая цапля, Малая белая цапля and Большой баклан are present most of the time, as well as Рыжая цапля sometimes. Pay attention to the calls of Красная куропатка, which often can be found in the scrubland or even crossing the road.

Access
La Higuerilla is easily reached from Villareal de San Carlos. It is the third viewpoint (on the left side of the road) after passing the Torrejon-Tietar dam. You can park next to the viewpoint. Press P on the map for directions.
