Description

Sutjeska fish farm is a good birding place all year round, particularly for waterfowl, gulls, and herons.

In Winter, big flocks of geese and ducks find this and the surrounding fish farms a good wintering location. In summer, herons, egrets, and gulls, along with the waterfowl, dominate the avifauna. During migration, sandpipers may be found around the small ponds used for young fish, while marsh and reed warblers, along with Обыкновенный ремез, are everywhere in the reeds surrounding the embankments. The fish ponds attract Скопа and they take a migration break in the fish farm surroundings.

Near the Sutjeska fish farm, there are also two other smaller but still quite big fish farms: Neuzina (near the Neuzina village) and Barakuda (near the Sečanj village). From these three, Sutjeska fish farm is probably the best for birding, followed by Neuzina, while Barakuda is probably to be avoided.

The area is part of the 'Landscape of exceptional features Potamišje' and 'IBA Gornje Potamišje'.
