Description

Spring and autumn are best for this oasis. Passerines include Испанская каменка, Красноголовый сорокопут, Белый ушастый бюльбюль, Хохлатый жаворонок, Средиземноморская славка, Восточноорфейская славка and Очковая славка. Wetland birds include 3 species of egret, Погоныш, Малый погоныш, Коростель, Кваква, Рыжая цапля and Жёлтая цапля, Чёрный аист and Белый аист. In the surrounding desert there may be Перепел, Авдотка, Белоголовый сип, Степной лунь, Ястребиный орёл, Синайская чечевица, Desert Owl and Tristram's Starling. There is a raised walkway, hides and a cycle track.

Access

By road the site is 70 miles east of Amman, where day tours, car hire and taxi hire are available. Advice is to carry plenty of water and avoid midday heat. The cycle route is 12 km and the raised walkway 3/4 of a km.
