Description
The cape of Punta San Martino in Arenzano is a good hotspot for watching seabirds, especially Северная олуша, which can be seen also quite close to the shore. They are present all year-round, but in summer only with immatures. Adults spend their winter here, but are more abundant during migrations, in November and March.
Also Левантский буревестник and Средиземноморский буревестник (подвид diomedea) are commonly seen foraging in the waters in front of the cape. The Гагарка can be seen in winter, especially in December. In March and April, this is also a good spot for watching migrants on the sea, especially in the first couple of hours after sunrise. Here, many dabbling ducks and herons can be seen in the morning. Finally, in winter Пестроносая крачка is always present here, as well as the Хохлатый баклан in late summer and autumn.
