At the northernmost point of the island of Corfu this lagoon and island with beaches is accessible by a bridge.
The lagoon is the 'waterlily lake' mentioned by Gerald Durrell in My Family and Other Animals. However it appeared lifeless on my September visit. The island has 3 beaches, accessible by car, and good scrub and heath habitat favoured by warblers, Просянка, Сплюшка and Обыкновенная горлица. A pair of Беркут were hunting over the wooded hills on return journey to Roda. Other birds you can enconter are Рыжепоясничная ласточка, Белобрюхий стриж, Скальная ласточка, Рыжегрудая славка, Средиземноморская славка and Певчая славка.
Parking by the various beaches. Click on a P in the map to get directions. There is a cafe on the mainland beach.
