Description

With 1,427 hectares, the Regentalaue nature reserve between Cham and Pösing is the largest protected area in the Oberpfalz. The area includes the river Regen and the surrounding floodplains. During the melting of the snow, but also after prolonged rain, flooding often occurs. A colourful meadow landscape with ponds and flowing waters, wetlands and siltation zones. The area is an important breeding ground for bird species, such as the Черношейная поганка and various species of gulls, and an essential resting place for many migratory birds. Among the birds you can encounter are Большой кроншнеп, Большой веретенник, Чибис, Луговой чекан, Травник, Черноголовая чайка, Огарь, Широконоска, Чирок-свистунок, Большой баклан and Перевозчик.
