Description
Rappenwört is often referred to as an island, as it is almost completey surrounded by water: a meander cutoff where the Rhine used to flow and the current, straightened course of the river. In addition to interesting birding habitats, there is also an outdoor swimming pool, a nature information centre and various canoeing clubs and restaurants. On the various lakes, ponds and backwaters you can see Лебедь-шипун, Кряква, Чирок-свистунок, Лысуха, Чомга, Серая цапля, Большая белая цапля and Большой баклан.
The woodlands are also rich in birdlife, especially in spring and summer. A few of the highlight species include Иволга, Серая мухоловка, Седой дятел and Средний пёстрый дятел. If the water levels of the pools are low enough to expose muddy fringes, then it is possible to see various resident and passage waders and ducks. Перевозчик and Черныш and possibly Турухтан and Чирок-трескунок.
