Description
The Holter Hammrich polder is divided into two parts. The western, 143-hectare section "Leyßer Hammrich" was designed as a habitat for meadow birds. It is extensively managed as grassland except for a pond that already existed before the redesign. The eastern, 80-hectare section "Altes Tief" is not cultivated. Here, a diverse mosaic of shallow water zones, shrubs, reed beds and wet grassland was created. Among the breeding birds are Большой веретенник, Шилоклювка, Чибис, Бекас, Травник, Большой кроншнеп, Кулик-сорока. Полевой жаворонок, Черноголовый чекан, Варакушка and Тростниковая овсянка.
