Description
Kiesseen Prettin is a body of water of 112 hectare located on the Elbe River near Prettin. Characteristic are the shoals and the sandbanks, some of which lie in the middle of the water. Almost 50 breeding bird species are known on the site. The waterfowl include Лебедь-шипун and Лысуха. The vertical bank walls are inhabited by Береговушка, and Кулик-сорока breeds on the gravelly flat banks. Тростниковая камышевка, Болотная камышевка and Тростниковая овсянка live in the reed beds, while Южный соловей and Обыкновенный ремез live in the damp wood along the banks. The dry bushes are inhabited by Обыкновенный жулан, Серая славка and Славка-мельничек, while Пустельга обыкновенная, Иволга and Полевой воробей breed in the trees. Серая куропатка, Луговой чекан, Хохлатый жаворонок and Каменка live on the ruderal and barren areas. The gravel lakes are also important for resting migrating waterfowl, especially Восточный тундровый гусь, Белолобый гусь, Красноголовый нырок, Хохлатая чернеть and Большой крохаль.
