Description
The wet meadows of Elzwiesen are irrigated in March, August and November. End of March/ start of April and August are the best times to watch migrating birds on the flooded meadows. Common migrating spiecies are Фифи , Турухтан , Большой улит , Озерная чайка and Чирок-трескунок. Also rarer species like Колпица , Средний кроншнеп and Большой веретенник can sometimes be found on the irrigated areas.
Breeding birds are Большой кроншнеп , Чибис , Южный соловей and Обыкновенный жулан. Many Большая белая цапля , Серая цапля and Белый аист can be observed feeding in the area. The meadows are irrigated in steps from south to north. So most times only one part of the area is flooded. Note that the area has limited access from March to June.
