Nice nature reserve around the town of Amöneburg on top of a former volcano, with also a nice panorama.
The Amöneburg nature reserve is the second oldest nature reserve in Hesse and is accessible via a nature trail. At 365 meters above sea level and around 165 meters above the Ohm Plain, the basalt massif of the Amöneburg is the striking center of the Amöneburg Basin. This depression landscape is part of the course of the Hessian Depression, which runs through Hesse in a roughly north-south direction. Good area to see owls. Among the birds that can be seen in the area are Серая куропатка, Вертишейка, Седой дятел, Чеглок, Каменка, Красный коршун, Обыкновенный жулан, Домовый сыч, Сипуха, Серая неясыть, Ушастая сова and Филин.
Easy accessible on foot from the town of Amöneburg. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular walk indicated on the map is about 2,5 km.
