Alte Elbe is an old arm of the river Elbe near the town of Gerwisch. Good chances to see Орлан-белохвост, Скопа and Серый журавль. Many waterbirds, especially during migration time (e.g., Большая белая цапля, Серая цапля, Серый гусь, Гуменник, Широконоска, Чирок-свистунок, Чирок-трескунок, Лебедь-кликун, Луток, Большой крохаль, Чомга, Малая поганка, Чибис, Большой улит, Щёголь, Турухтан). In the adjacent areas Красный коршун, Чёрный коршун, Пустельга обыкновенная, Желна, Вертишейка, and very occasionally Золотистая щурка or Удод can be seen.
