In the western part you can observe different ducks (Кряква, Серая утка, Луток), gulls (Клуша, Черноголовый хохотун, Сизая чайка, Малая чайка) and terns (Пестроносая крачка, Речная крачка, Белокрылая крачка). In the eastern part near the strait wintering swans (Американский лебедь, Лебедь-кликун) and even loons (Чернозобая гагара, Краснозобая гагара) can be encountered.
The shores of the eastern part are muddy and flat, so it is a good place for waders (Травник, Фифи, Кулик-сорока, Турухтан, Бекас). In the reedbeds you can find almost all species of herons, that live in Georgia (Серая цапля, Большая белая цапля, Жёлтая цапля, Волчок).
Open spaces, covered with grass on the shores of the reservoir attract larks, shrikes, pipits and birds of prey (including Сапсан, Дербник, Кобчик, Степная пустельга, Степной лунь, Степной орёл, Скопа).
In the coastal forests live woodpeckers (Сирийский дятел, Малый пёстрый дятел, Вертишейка, Желна), tits, finches (Снегирь, Зяблик) and even Клёст-еловик.
