Pointe de Chassiron is located at the end of the island of Oléron, and probably the most interesting place for the observation of pelagic birds (= seawatch), like Северная олуша, Тонкоклювая кайра or even Обыкновенный буревестник.
The best time to observe seabirds, like any bird for that matter, is from dawn until noon. The only really interesting period for the seawatch is fall. You will then be able to observe a very large diversity of open sea birds, such as: Серый гусь, Чёрная казарка, Обыкновенная гага, Синьга, Длинноносый крохаль, Красношейная поганка, Чомга, Большой поморник, Тонкоклювая кайра, Гагарка, Вилохвостая чайка, Озерная чайка, Малая чайка, Черноголовая чайка, Сизая чайка, Серебристая чайка, Средиземноморская чайка, Клуша, Морская чайка, Малая крачка, Пестроносая крачка, Речная крачка, Краснозобая гагара, Черноклювая гагара, Прямохвостая качурка, Обыкновенный буревестник, Северная олуша and finally Хохлатый баклан.
During migration, it is also possible to observe a large number of passerines and Anatidae.
NB: a Чёрный скворец has been nesting for several years under the tiles of the most advanced house with Обыкновенный скворец.

It is possible to park in the parking lot at the tip. You can visit the site on foot. You can also visit it by bike but it will be useless because the principle is to remain static behind your telescope.
