Parc naturel du Pâtis in Meaux, is a large urban park of 150 hectares located on the banks of the Marne. Historically a former quarry of alluvial sand and gravel until the 1980s. It consists of a succession of ponds surrounded by reed beds representing 40% of its surface. The rest of the park is divided between wooded areas and more open environments. The location of the park within a loop of the river Marne makes it a place rich in birds. No fewer than 130 species of birds have been recorded.
