Description
The Crau is one of the last mediterranean stone steppes and therefore holds many rare species. Sadly it is under high pressure of land-use and agriculture. Car testing areas and an airport have covered parts of the steppe in recent times. Nevertheless steppe breeding birds like the Стрепет, Белобрюхий рябок and Степной жаворонок still survive and can be seen in La Crau. In Winter you can also see flocks of Золотистая ржанка and Чибис or even Степной конёк.
