Description

Plaine des Manoeuvres has different kinds of habitats: some small woods, lawns, a kind of wasteland (perhaps a real estate project will be created there) and a small pond. Even if this area has lost quite a bit of its biological interest in recent decades due to the construction of many buildings and therefore the reduction of green spaces, in particular a meadow with scattered bushes (between 1960 and 1985 one could find on this site Полевой жаворонок, Луговой конёк, Полевой воробей, Коноплянка, Жёлтая трясогузка nesting birds and even Хохлатый жаворонок singers and Серый сорокопут wintering!), this remains an area quite popular with many common bird species such as Черный дрозд, Певчий дрозд, Зарянка, Лесная завирушка, Большой пёстрый дятел and full of tits: Черноголовая гаичка, Лазоревка, Большая синица, Ополовник, or even Московка. Other common but rarer species to see in the city but present on this site are Короткопалая пищуха, Зелёный дятел (which nests on the site occasionally), Черноголовый щегол who particularly appreciates the unspoilt area on Boulevard du Triomphe, Обыкновенная зеленушка, Канюк, Перепелятник, Горихвостка-чернушка and Домовый воробей.

Français: Zones avec quelques éspaces verts entre des campus d'universités comme l'ULB ou VUB. Ce site comporte quelques petits bois, beaucoup de zones de pelouses, une sorte de friche (mais peut-être un projet immobilier va se creer a cet endroit)et une petite marre. Même si cette zone à perdu pas mal de son intéret biologique au cours des dernières décennies due a la construction de nombreux batiments et donc la reduction d'éspaces verts nottament une prairie avec de buissons épars (entre 1960 et 1985 on pouvait trouver sur ce site des Полевой жаворонок, des Луговой конёк, des Полевой воробей, des Коноплянка, des Жёлтая трясогузка nicheuses et meme des Хохлатый жаворонок chanteurs et Серый сорокопут hivernante !), celle ci reste une zone assez apprécié par beaucoup d'éspèces d'oiseaux communs comme le Черный дрозд ,la Певчий дрозд ,le Зарянка, le Лесная завирушка,le Большой пёстрый дятел et plein de mésanges: la Черноголовая гаичка ,la Лазоревка, la Большая синица, la Ополовник, ou même la Московка. D'autres éspèces communes mais plus rares a voir en pleine ville mais que sur ce site sont présentes sont: le Короткопалая пищуха, le Зелёный дятел (qui niche meme sur le site ocasionellement), le Черноголовый щегол qui aprécie spéciallement la zone laissé sauvage coté boulevard du triomphe, le Обыкновенная зеленушка, la Канюк,l'Перепелятник,le Горихвостка-чернушка et le Домовый воробей.

In addition to the species mentioned above, the Plaine des Manouevres is a rather interesting site for migrating birds, which make a stop there. From March the birds begin their migration and during their long journey some species stop, even for a few days, to rest. The Тростниковая камышевка, Болотная камышевка, Серая славка, Садовая славка, Обыкновенная горихвостка, Мухоловка-пеструшка, Пеночка-весничка or (much) more rare Серая мухоловка, Многоголосая камышевка, Зелёная пересмешка, Черноголовый чекан, Луговой чекан, Белозобый дрозд, Лесной конёк and even Обыкновенный жулан (which was seen again in June 2021) are birds that stop at the site during spring and autumn migration.

In spring a few species settle on the plain, such as Теньковка and Славка-черноголовка, while Обыкновенный скворец are seen more often than in winter. In winter one can observe the Белобровик, the Рябинник, a greater quantity of Зяблик, between the end of November and February of the Чиж in places with alders and birches, and if you are lucky some Обыкновенный дубонос and Юрок.

Français: En plus des éspèces cités précédemment, la Plaine des manouevres est un site assez intérresant pour les oiseaux en migration, qui y font halte voluntiers. Dès mars les oiseaux commencent leur migration pré-nuptiale et pendant leur long périple quelques espéces font halte, même pendant quelques jours, pour se reposer. La Тростниковая камышевка, la Болотная камышевка, la Серая славка, la Садовая славка,le Обыкновенная горихвостка, le Мухоловка-пеструшка, le Пеночка-весничка ou (bien) plus rarement le Серая мухоловка, l' Многоголосая камышевка, l' Зелёная пересмешка, le Черноголовый чекан, le Луговой чекан, le Белозобый дрозд, le Лесной конёк et même la Обыкновенный жулан (qui a encore été vu en juin 2021!) sont des oiseaux qui font halte sur le site pendant les migrations de printemps et d'automne, même si c'est possible de les voir en halte en juin par example.

Au printemps quelques éspèces s'installent sur la plaine, tels que le Теньковка et la Славка-черноголовка, alors que on voit plus souvent qu'en hiver des Обыкновенный скворец. En hiver on pourra observer la Белобровик, la Рябинник, une plus grande quantité de Зяблик, entre fin novembre et février des Чиж dans les endroits avec des aulnes et bouleaux, et si on a de la chance des Обыкновенный дубонос et des Юрок.
