Description
Over 240 bird species have been found at the Güssinger Fischteiche, making it one of the best places in southern Burgenland for birdwatching. The site is also easily accessible from the town and can be incorporated with a visit to the well-known castle nearby. Highlights include breeding Красноголовый нырок and Чомга, a heron colony with Серая цапля and Большая белая цапля and summer migrants including Волчок and Соловьиный сверчок. In spring the site attracts waders such as Ходулочник as well as passage birds such as Малая чайка and Чёрная крачка. The site also has some woodland, which contains Желна, Обыкновенный дубонос, Седой дятел, and there is a chance of Орлан-белохвост.

Access
You can park in the main town car parks and walk across the road. Click on the P in the map for directions. The circular route indicated on the map is about 6 km. The paths in between the fishponds themselves are private, but birdwatchers are tolerated and local walkers often use these too. These paths offer the best views of the ponds.
