Description

Vale of Ffestiniog has mainly oak, ash, elm and alder woodland. The area has many rare species of lichen, liverwort and mosses, wildflowers include bluebells, golden saxifrage, wild garlic. Otters, badgers, lesser horseshoe bat, adders, common lizard and foxes are active. Birds include Muscar negru, Codroș de pădure, Pitulice sfârâitoare, Corb and Pescărel negru. Uligan pescar may occasionally be seen fishing Lake Trawsfynnydd in spring, summer and early autumn.

Access

For Coed Felinrhyd car park is south side of A496, 2 miles west of Maentwrog. For Coed Cae Fali, car parks on north side of A487 Porthmadog to Maentwrog road. For Trawsfynnydd and path to waterfall, take A470 road SW from Maentwrog.
