Tavistock is in West Devon, just West of Dartmoor National Park and North of the City of Plymouth.
The Meadows is a recreation ground sandwiched between the River Tavy in the South and the Tavistock Canal on it's Nothern edge. Whilst most birds are of commoner species, Pescărel negru, Codobatură de munte and Găinușă de baltă and Rață mare can often be found on both river or canal. During harsh Winters especially with freezing conditions on nearby Dartmoor Fâsă de luncă and even Șorecar comun sometimes seek shelter near the park, both Sturzul viilor and Cocoșar are annual winter visitors depending on temperature. During Summer the odd Codobatură galbenă turns up occasionally.
The Meadows has the large Bedford car park (fee payable) on site and is in the middle of the town with the whole area easily accessed on foot. Click on the P in the map for directions to the parking.
Bedford car park can get extremely busy on market days and on special events such as the annual 'Goosey Fair' and days leading up to Christmas. ALSO NOTE The Tavistock Wharf cinema and concert venue shares the same Bedford car park, which could impact parking spaces later in the day.
