Tidal Walk along the Teign Estuary that runs West to East between Newton Abbot and Teignmouth in South Devon.
The Teign Estuary is the second biggest estuary (after The Exe) in South Devon. This TIDAL walk is on the Southern shore and comprises of a 1/2 mile wide estuary that narrows to saltmarsh and river closer to Newton Abbot. At low tide, a large area of mud is exposed and because the sun is behind you no 'glare' is expected.
From the North you pass over the River Teign on the A380, look for slip road saying Shaldon B3195, continue on this road passing through the village of Netherton, on reaching Combeinteignhead look for sign to Coombe Cellars on the left, there is a good size car park next to Public House.
BE WARNED, this is a TIDAL walk, CHECK HIGH TIDE TIMES before STARTING. There are few escape routes on this walk, other than across fields in an emergency. Be sure to check roosting gull flocks near the Flyover for rare and unusual species.
