Description
Priory Water nature reserve is managed by Leicestershire Wildfowlers Association but a right-of-way path runs through it. There are two main lakes and a selection of pools and scrapes all surrounded by grassland and scrub. Horses and cows pasture here. Priory water is one of the best sites in the Leicestershire county for dragonflies and damselflies which attracts Șoimul rândunelelor in spring and summer.
Priory Water is an important site for wintering waterfowl, such as Gârliță mare, Ferestraș mare, Rață pestriță, Rață fluierătoare, Rață moțată, Lebădă de vară, Lișiță, Rață lingurar and others found here. The surrounding reeds host Stufărică.

Access
Priory Water is located 3 miles west of Melton Mowbray, near the village of Asfordby. The area can be accessed by car (click P on the map for direction to parking) or by walking from nearby Asfordby or Kirby Bellars.
