A historic forest with rich bird diversity in spite of its transformation to a city park. Easy to reach via public transport and with a great Bosphorus view.
Yıldız Wood is located between two touristic places, Beşiktaş and Ortaköy. Easy to reach from various locations of Istanbul. In the area you can encounter forest birds, gulls and cormorants which are common and easy to observe from close distance. Among the birds you can expect are Pescăruș râzător, Papagal Micul Alexandru, Papagal Marele Alexandru, Drepnea mare, Stufărică, Turturică africană, Codroș de munte, Cormoran mare and Cormoran mic. But many more, see the birdlist below.
The first option: Take any bus from Beşiktaş to Ortaköy and get off in "Yahya Efendi" bus stop (2nd bus stop after Beşiktaş). The entrance is 2 minutes walk distance from there. The secon option: reach Beşiktaş or Ortaköy via various public transportation. The entrance is in 7-10 minutes walking distance from each direction.
Easier to walk down of the forest, if you use the upper entrance. There are some social facilities for eating & drinking in the upper edge.
