Lake Efteni is beautiful area in terms of landscape. Around the lake area, there are mountains which are covered by forests. The lake area is surrounded not only by the mountains but also by a plain. You can go to the forest site for birding as well. The lake area is a gathering place for wintering birds. One of the highlights is the Rață roșie. The species can be seen there in significant numbers. Also, other water birds can be seen closely in the area. Especially in winter, there are several species such as Becațină comună, Rață mică, Rață pestriță and Nagâț that you can see high numbers.

You can explore the Lake Efteni area best by car. Cycling can be an other option if you have your bike. Short walks would be good to see forest birds and others. Several points are given on the map where you can do stationary obserbations. Click on a P in the map for directions or coordinates.
