An irrigation dam located close to the city of Eskisehir. A small but interesting birding spot that can bring suprises during migration seasons.
Keskin Dam is an artificial dam where the water level changes every season. It is one of the few wetland close to the city center and easy to reach via public transportation. Because of its small size, the birds such as egrets, ducks, raptors and waders are in close distance to observe. Among the birds you can encounter are Sfrâncioc roșiatic, Prigorie, Stârc galben, Chirighiță cu aripi albe, Chirighiță cu obraz alb, Călifar roșu, Corcodel mare, Fluierar de munte, Fluierar cu picioare verzi, Fluierar de mlaștină, Barză albă and Codalb.
It is 20 km from city center. Public transportation (number 53 bus from Odunpazarı) is frequent to nearest village. The area is mostly flat and possible to explore around by walking, cycling or by car. It is good to be careful for muddy parts when the water level is low.
Looks deserted at the first hand but can be very rich according to the season.
