Description

Kadıkoy Bay is not a special birding area that you have to go, but worth to visit if you are in Kadıköy. The breakwater (mendirek) lays from the Kadıköy to Harem and it attracts many Cormoran moțat. It is one of the biggest breeding colonies in the region. You can observe the nests from a close distance. Additionally cormorants, herons, coots and gulls hang around the breakwater and inner of the port. Many suprises are possible especially in winter.

Kadıkoy has a rich public transportation network for all kind of vehicles. From the dock (rıhtım), you can walk the path indicated on the map.

The walking route is a good way to discover the surroundings in detail. But another option where you can see the breakwater very close is during the ferry trip from/to Beşiktaş, Karaköy, Eminönü or Bosphorus.
