The Neeracherried is a beautiful nature reserve in the vicinity of Zürich. On an area of 105 hectares you can find different habitats that attract many birds.
The Neeracherried is one of the last large flat bogs in Switzerland. It is regularly mowed and grazed and provides habitat for countless birds. It is worth going to Neeracherried at any time of the year, but a visit is particularly exciting during the bird migration season. It has a Birdlife Center with two hides. You pay an entrance fee (Adults: CHF 7), but that is definitely worth it (and you can use the toilet there). Every year the Birdlife Center has a different exhibition. They also do guided tours by appointment. You can walk a circular route, past reed beds, marshes, small groves and ponds. The circular trail with two observation towers is freely accessible all year round. For the Birdlife Center you have to note the opening times. Depending on how long you observe or photograph, the circular route takes about 1 hour to walk. Among the birds you can see in the area are Fluierar de mlaștină, Fluierar cu picioare verzi, Fluierar cu picioare roșii, Fugaci de țărm, Becațină comună, Rață lingurar, Rață mică, Erete de stuf, Privighetoare roșcată, Barză albă, Barză neagră, Stârc pitic, Sitar de mal, Codobatură de munte, Gușă vânătă, Prundăraș gulerat mare, Grelușel de stuf, Presură galbenă, Gaie roșie, Cresteț pestriț, Pescăraș albastru, Bătăuș and Fluierar negru.
There are free parking spaces at the Birdlife Center. Click on the P in the map to get directions. There are also a few parking spaces at the roundabout in the direction of Höri. Otherwise you can take the OEV, bus stop nearby. The post bus stop: Riedt near Neerach is about 5 minutes away.
